Welcome to the website for the Society of Kentucky Lepidopterists.

The Society of Kentucky Lepidopterists was founded in 1974 to further the knowledge of the butterfly and moth fauna in the state of Kentucky. It is open to anyone who shares these interests.

 

There are approximately 2633 species of butterflies and moths that are known to occur in Kentucky. Through society field trips and their independent efforts, SKL members add species new to the state every year.
